Use of fourms?

So, can anyone give me a quick run through of SMF? I know most forum hosting sites, this one looks slightly more embedded, not as much of a big thing as sites such as PHPboards or invisionfree  , Which I love using both, I'm going to try to get to know the admins of SMF, and possibly get our own layout , Given our forum admin wants one =)

edits: If it's wanted I can code one myself, I've done them before.

Thank you levi I may like that but I have to run every thing by the admin at terra nova but stay in touch send me personal messages when you find out more about the layouts just remember this is the only forum i could think of that passes district security, and I am sorry ben called you a Losser

OK, I know district policy's make these things hard. That's why we use "Unofficial" forums =)

I can design any layout wanted, I've been going over the process for it, and it's quiet easy =)

I could make you an admin account; however, it'd be illegal because it'd involve hacking Only the ROOT admin "Travis" Can appoint admins.

Admins can make new forums, appoint MODS and I think they can also appoint admins.
